The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport is ready for action! Check out this compact crossover SUV for a unique blend of vintage Bronco style and all-around comfort. Compared to the bigger Bronco SUV, the Bronco Sport offers a more fuel-efficient take on off-roading. Let’s take a closer look at the latest model year!
What’s new for the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport?
There are a few new options for 2023 shoppers!
First of all, Ford is rolling out two limited-edition models: the Heritage Edition and the Heritage Limited Edition. Available to order right now, these Bronco Sport trim models pay tribute to the original Bronco’s exterior, with 1960s styling, including Oxford White exterior accents and pastel paint colors, such as Robin’s Egg Blue. Besides its special styling, the Bronco Sport Heritage Edition is similarly equipped to the Big Bend trim model. Meanwhile, the Heritage Limited Edition is both trail-ready, with 29-inch all-terrain tires, and luxurious, with leather-trimmed seats.
There’s also a new package available for the Big Bend and Outer Banks trim models, the Black Diamond package. It equips these Bronco Sport SUVs with a little more panache, with 17-inch gloss gray alloy wheels, and extra protection against the elements, via underbody skid plates.
Who needs a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport?
Since these compact crossover SUVs strike an unusual balance between city-friendly driving and off-road capabilities, they tend to attract drivers who really do go everywhere. If you find yourself navigating everything from cramped downtown grids to Michigan’s hilly, muddy off-road terrain, the Bronco Sport is perfect for you and your loved ones!
How does the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport drive?
Like we said, the Bronco Sport is an excellent choice for drivers who want both a comfortable daily cruiser and a fun-loving off-roader. Every trim model includes all-wheel drive, which automatically detects slippage — say, when you’re driving in the sand or slush — and sends power to the rear wheels to maximize traction and overall driver control.
Most Bronco Sport trim models feature the standard engine, a turbocharged three-cylinder engine that provides a decent balance of fuel economy and adventure-ready power. This powertrain is EPA-rated to give you 26 mpg combined (25 city/28 highway).
Only the Badlands trim model, which is designed to go deeper into the wilderness than the rest, comes with the 250-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Not only does the Badlands give you more power, but it also makes sure you can better tackle tough terrain, with underbody skid plates, all-terrain tires, off-road-tuned suspension, and an upgraded all-wheel-drive system.
The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport’s powertrain specs include:
- Turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine (181 horsepower, 190 lb-ft of torque)
- Turbo 2.0L four-cylinder engine (250 hp, 277 lb-ft) (Badlands only)
- Eight-speed automatic transmission
- All-wheel drive
