With the 2020 Ford Expedition and Chevrolet Suburban, you can expect outsized power and expansive passenger space. But these SUVs are also known for their high-tech take on your daily drive. Which is right for you? Our comparison guide has the facts.

Family-Style Luxury

Family-Style Luxury: 2020 Ford Expedition

The Expedition stands apart, even in this spacious segment, with its three rows of roomy seating. Even the backseat offers enough space for adult-size shoulders and legs. (Typically, the third row in an SUV is best left for child-size passengers.) But the Expedition also excels in the luxury department, offering every high-end feature, from heated-and-ventilated front seats to stylish leather upholstery options.

2020 Ford Expedition Interior

We also have to give the Chevrolet Suburban plenty of points for its high-end features. As with the Expedition, can outfit this SUV with bigger, more stylish wheels and upgraded leather upholstery. However, the Suburban’s backseat can’t hold a candle to that of the Expedition. This back row might suffice for short trips, but, on longer runs, it’s best left for kids.

Top-of-the-Line Safety

Top-of-the-Line Safety: 2020 Ford Expedition

This year, the Expedition is making high-tech safety standard with its Co-Pilot360 package. Each of these Ford SUVs features this bundle of cutting-edge systems, including automatic emergency braking and lane keeping assist. There’s even a blind spot alert system to help you switch lanes in style.

2020 Ford Expedtion Safety

The Chevy Suburban also offers a bundle of high-tech safety aids. However, it’s not standard equipment. You must pay extra to get the Enhanced Driver Alert package and its contents, which includes low-speed automatic emergency braking and a vibrating safety-alert driver seat.

Tech-Savvy Support

Tech-Savvy Support: 2020 Chevrolet Suburban

Here, the Suburban takes the lead. In fact, Chevrolet always makes it a point to provide a robust standard tech lineup in its vehicles. Each of the Suburban trim models comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, invaluable technology that displays apps on the 8-inch central touchscreen, eliminating the need to reach for your phone. But the Suburban also comes standard with a Wi-Fi connection, which in this day and age can’t help but come in handy.

2020 Chevrolet Suburban Technology

Like the Suburban, the 2020 Expedition comes standard with a street-smart infotainment system, Ford’s SYNC 3, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. Ford doesn’t give you a standard Wi-Fi connection just yet, but you do get four USB charging ports. They’re spread throughout the cabin for easy access.

Tow More

Tow More: 2020 Ford Expedition

For drivers who need extra towing power, the Expedition is a must-have. Properly equipped, one of these full-size SUVs can tow up to 9,200 pounds. (That’s quite a bit more than the Suburban, which stops at 8,300 pounds.) In fact, there’s no SUV in this segment that can tow more. Moreover, the Expedition’s turbocharged V6 engine does an excellent job of pulling extra weight.

Both of these full-size SUVs are delightfully capable and comfortable, but 2020 Ford Expedition pulls away from the competition with its spacious cabin, massive strength, and savvy safety features.
