Why choose the 2022 Ford Ranger?
Ford’s midsize truck is known for its strong performance and a wide range of off-roading options.
Every Ranger comes with a turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine (270 horsepower, 310 lb-ft of torque) and 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive is an option, no matter which Ranger trim model you’re shopping.
Two off-roading packages — the FX2 (for rear-wheel-drive Rangers) and FX4 (four-wheel drive models) — are available to make your Ranger trail-ready. And the new Tremor package is available to take you even further into the wild. It includes features like extra ground clearance, off-road-specific Fox shocks, and 32-inch all-terrain tires.

What’s next for the Ford Ranger?
A newly redesigned Ranger is just around the corner! For the 2023 model year, Ford is introducing the fifth generation of this midsize pickup truck. It will feature a new exterior, with increasingly rugged style and blockier lines.
We don’t know a whole lot else about the upcoming Ranger, but we suspect that this new truck will offer the same body styles (extended, crew) and bed sizes as the current model. We also expect the powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine to carry over. Ford also says there may be an electric Ranger in the future. Stay tuned as we learn more details about the upcoming Ranger!
