2020 Ford Transit Connect

A couple of years ago, there was something of a shift in the design philosophy of the Ford Transit Connect. There were perhaps more people buying cargo vehicle to pursue their hobbies and cart around kids and grandkids than there were people buying it for their delivery business. So the Ford Transit Connect became more passenger-friendly and safer while still being able to hold a ton of cargo. You can see the shift in intended buyer in the upgrades Ford continues to make, including those for the 2020 model year.

What’s New for 2020?

As we said, the Transit Connect is safer and more passenger-friendly. Get a better view of the road in inclement weather with rain-sensing windshield wipers and automatic headlamps with running lights. Both are now standard on the 2020 Transit Connect. New standard safety features include rear view camera, forward-collision warning, and automated emergency braking. With these new additions, this is a great hobby wagon, kid hauler, and all-around fantastic cargo van.

2020 Ford Transit Connect Interior

Cargo Van

The 2020 Transit Connect is a superior cargo van. There’s 191 cubic feet of storage space back there, leaving even the most spacious minivan in the dust. For example, the most spacious minivan on the market today is the Chrysler Pacifica. But the Pacifica boasts only 140 cubes with all the seats down. And with 1570 pounds of payload capacity, this cargo van can take just about anything you throw at it. The Transit Connect, despite its smaller exterior dimensions, does much better than its competition by holding much more.

Passenger Wagon

Instead of making deliveries for your small business, you can fill the 2020 Transit Connect with seating and take a party of kids to get ice cream cones. There’s seating for seven, so plenty of people can pile in. They won’t get bored with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, not to mention the Wi-Fi hotspot. You can throw in dual-zone automatic climate control and wireless charging to bring the comfort and convenience up to stellar heights.

2020 Ford Transit Connect Technology

Tech and Features

Speaking of cabin features, let’s lay it all out on the table. For the low price of $28,315, you get a reliable workhorse that comes with standard air conditioning, power front windows, height-adjustable driver's seat, vinyl upholstery and floor covering, and four-speaker sound system with Bluetooth and a USB port. But if you’re looking to fill the Ford Transit Connect with people, we recommend that you upgrade to the XLT passenger van, thereby adding cloth upholstery, floor mats, cruise control, wireless smartphone charging, another USB port, satellite radio, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, along with dual-zone climate control and nine-speaker sound system. That should keep you and yours pretty content on the road.
